A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” comes from the start of Charles Dickens novel “A tale of two cites”, which is set in the late 1700’s.

Dickens is not so easy for us to read these days, but I found this book riveting and the insights into the French revolution, that are a major part of the book, were both awful and interesting.

A tale of two cities also to me has a strong Christian theme as one of the characters in the book swaps places with a man destined for the guillotine, laying down his life to save this man, the woman he loved and her family.

Full of intriguing twists and turns and of the brilliance of Dickens in describing the different characters, their lives and the environment of the times.
