WHO WE ARE

We are a growing family of Christians from many nations, cultures and backgrounds and with varied abilities and talents, but all with the common cause of sharing the good news about Jesus Christ in our generation and growing in our relationship with him.

We are part of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the London Baptist Association.  We are affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance and adhere to their basis of faith.

We are passionate about reaching Esher and the neighbouring areas with the good news about Jesus Christ.  We continue to experience how a relationship with Jesus changes people’s lives and long for everyone to have the opportunity to experience a personal relationship with God through the presence of the Holy Spirit. The bible says that God created each of us with a purpose, that all of us are valuable and loved by God. When we come to realise this truth it transforms our lives and the lives of those around us.

So we have the greatest privilege there is here at EGBC – to be the good news, as well as share the good news about Jesus in our generation.

A TALE OF TWO CHURCHES

Esher Green Baptist Church was reopened in 1983 but Baptists first gathered here in 1852!  John Bradley, a church founder, wrote ‘A Tale of Two Churches – The Growth of Baptist Christians in Esher 1852 – 2008’ back in 2008 on the occasion of celebrating 25 years since the church reopening in 1983.  The book describes the origins of the church in its Victorian setting, its decline in the early 20th century, and its reopening and expansion since 1983.  Many vivid stories from its members are included.  The story is a mirror of church life in England over 150 years.

FIT FOR PURPOSE

Esher Green Baptist Church was rebuilt in 2013 and is the building you now see.  The project started back in 2008 and the book ‘Fit for Purpose’, written by John Bradley, details the 5 year exciting story.
