Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe

Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe

Written before the beginning of the American Civil War Uncle Tom’s cabin tells the story of a slave whose life is turned upside down when his benevolent owner gets into financial difficulties and has to sell him. This is, of course, the reverse of a Christian’s experience where we begin by discovering that we are enslaved to a cruel master, and only then are we ready to hear the good news of our Redeemer, Jesus. This slave, Uncle Tom, as he is known, suffers terribly under his new master, but eventually comes through with his Christian faith intact.
