The Healing by Joy Margetts

The Healing by Joy Margetts

Set in the 13th century, this heart-warming and hopeful novel starts off with a battle-weary soldier, found badly wounded in a roadside ditch in France by a Cistercian  monk. The soldier is an angry, and at the same time despairing, young man, tired of life after all that he has seen and experienced.

The monk nurses the soldier back to health in an Abbey in France. The two set off for England, staying at farms, inns, and Abbeys en route to their final destination.

Alongside the physical journey, a spiritual healing gradually takes place in the soldier’s heart, which culminates in unexpected ways towards the end of the novel.

Each chapter of the book starts with a Bible passage. The book has an overall gentle Christian theme, but should be suitable to give to a non-believer.

A good book if you want an easy gentle read with some historical interest and a Christian theme.
