Love Wins by Rob Bell

Love Wins by Rob Bell

In his controversial book “Love wins,” author Rob Bell focuses mainly on the grace of God to those “outside” the “Church.”

In 1999 Rob started Mars Hill Bible Church in Michigan USA, which grew to about 10,000 people, but he stood down after “Love wins” was published.

Some declared Rob a heretic for certain opinions in “Love wins.” In his book though, he draws on views of early Church Fathers such as Clement of Alexandria, Origen, Gregory of Nyssa and Jerome, on writings from Old Testament prophets, words from Jesus and Paul and even from Martin Luther. On occasions, he also refers to original Greek to suggest a different translation to give a parable a different interpretation.

You may agree or ardently disagree with the main theme of the book, but either way it will certainly get you thinking? Whilst at one level the book deals with weighty theological concepts, it is written in a light, almost conversational style that makes for easy reading.

If you struggle with eschatology, you may find this book helpful, even if you don’t agree with it all.
